  • Arcade Video game published 40 years ago:

GP World © 1984 Sega Enterprises, Limited.

Choose one of 3 different tracks, and race against the computer generated cars which are overlaid FMV backgrounds that were streamed from the LaserDisc.

    TECHNICAL
Featured an unusual widescreen aspect ratio that was achieved using two 21in. CRT monitor tubes that were mounted side-by-side.

This game uses a laser disc.

    The players used:
    Pioneer LD-V1001 (Japanese)
    Pioneer LD-V1000 (USA)

    TRIVIA
GP World was released in November 1984.

While not the first game to use two monitors in the same cabinet, it was the first time that two would be used in a manner to create a wide or ultra-widescreen image.
