    Juno-6 - Polyphonic Synthesizer © 1982 Roland.

The Roland Juno-6 Polyphonic Synthesizer was one of the earliest instruments in the Juno series, designed as an affordable, stable, and performance-oriented analog polyphonic synthesizer. Developed by Roland, it featured 6-voice polyphony, digitally controlled oscillators (DCOs), a resonant analog low-pass filter, and a distinctive built-in chorus effect. Unlike later Juno models, the Juno-6 did not include MIDI or patch memory, but it offered immediate hands-on control and a highly musical analog sound that made it popular for live performance and studio use.

    TRIVIA
he Juno-6 was the first model in Roland’s Juno series, establishing the design philosophy that would define the line.

It used digitally controlled oscillators (DCOs), which provided the stability of digital timing with the warmth of analog synthesis.

The absence of patch memory meant that all sounds had to be manually dialed in, encouraging real-time performance tweaking.

Its built-in chorus effect is considered a major part of its signature sound, especially for lush pads and string textures.

It was widely used in early 1980s synthpop, new wave, and electronic music productions. Popular users: Duran Duran, Enya, Sean Lennon

The Juno-6 was quickly followed by the Juno-60, which added patch memory, and later the Juno-106 with MIDI.

Despite its simplicity, it became highly valued for its immediacy and “sweet spot” analog tone.

Today it is considered a classic analog poly synth and a foundation of Roland’s 1980s sound.
