    PSR-2000 © 2001 Yamaha

The Yamaha PSR-2000 was a mid-to-high-end arranger workstation keyboard designed for advanced home musicians, performers, and studio users. It used the AWM2 sample-based synthesis engine and offered extensive accompaniment styles, onboard sequencing, and professional-grade sound editing. It was part of Yamaha’s early-2000s PSR generation, sitting just below the flagship PSR-3000 and bridging home keyboards with professional arranger workstations.

    TRIVIA
The PSR-2000 uses AWM2 (Advanced Wave Memory 2), Yamaha’s improved sample-based synthesis engine with higher fidelity and better velocity response.

It offers 64-note polyphony, allowing more complex arrangements compared to earlier PSR-150/180 class instruments.

It includes a 16-track sequencer, enabling full song recording and multi-part arrangement directly on the keyboard.

It provides a large library of presets (hundreds of voices and styles) and advanced accompaniment features typical of early PSR flagship models.

It features a backlit LCD screen with 320×240 resolution, significantly improving navigation and editing compared to 1990s PSR models.

It belongs to the same generation as the PSR-1000 and later PSR-3000, forming Yamaha’s early 2000s “golden arranger” lineup.

It includes full MIDI connectivity and advanced style control features, making it suitable for both live performance and sequencing setups.

It was widely used in home studios, live entertainment, and educational environments, especially before computer DAWs became dominant.

It is often considered one of the most influential PSR models in the transition toward modern arranger workstations like the Tyros and Genos series.

Despite its age, it remains popular on the second-hand market due to its rich sound library and stable arranger engine.
