    Class 3433 © 199? NCR Corp.

The 3433 was a high-reliability desktop system designed by NCR to be the "workhorse" for office automation in the early 90s. It is a highly integrated machine that relies heavily on custom NCR-designed ASICs (Application-Specific Integrated Circuits) to manage system logic, memory, and I/O. It eschewed the "DIY" feel of your ECS or Gigabyte boards for a chassis that was meant to be serviced by an NCR technician.

    TECHNICAL
CPU Support: Intel 486DX-33 or 486DX2-66.

Chipset: Proprietary NCR logic (often utilizing the NCR 77Cxx series of controllers), which replaced the standard C&T or OPTi logic found on retail boards.

Expansion: A mixture of standard ISA slots with a highly proprietary local bus structure used for the onboard video and disk controllers.

Onboard I/O: Highly integrated, featuring custom-designed disk controllers and video circuitry that was often soldered directly to the motherboard rather than sitting on plug-in cards.

BIOS: NCR’s own custom BIOS, designed for remote management and security—a precursor to modern enterprise features like IPMI.

    TRIVIA
The "Retail Giant": NCR (National Cash Register) wasn't just building computers; they were building systems that drove POS (Point-of-Sale) terminals and banking networks worldwide. The 3433 was frequently found under desks in retail branches. Because they were so durable, many of these systems stayed in service for over a decade.

The proprietary trap: While the ECS and Alaris boards you've documented are a joy for hobbyists to upgrade, the ncr3433 is the opposite. It is notoriously difficult to repair because the components are so tightly integrated; if the onboard disk controller fails, you essentially have to replace the entire motherboard because standard ISA controllers often don't "play nice" with the NCR bus logic.
