Fire Pro Wrestling G includes 169 wrestlers and a plethora of game modes including the One Night Match, One Night Tournament, Open League, Elimination Match, Battle Royal, Death Match and Gruesome Fighting.

The Fighting Road mode is a story mode were you take the role of Yuji Yamashita, the Hope of a New Star. Depending on the various choices you make during the game, your character will be drafted into a different promotion where he can meet and face various wrestlers in hopes of becoming the champion.

The Edit mode received major improvements. On top of being able to create your own original wrestler, you can now create up to 5 wrestling promotions, including editing their logos. You can also move wrestlers from one promotion to another, including ones you've created.

One final game mode addition is Edit Ranking. In this computer versus computer only mode, your mission is to assemble an effective CPU Logic for your wrestler in order to defeat your opponents.

Four players can play simultaneously and there are 77 edit slots plus the ability to import up to 77 other wrestlers from a second memory card for a total of 154 edits.

Released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Fire Pro Wrestling series.

This was HUMAN's final Fire Pro Wrestling game. The next games in the series would be developed by Spike, which featured most of the same staff. Fire Pro Wrestling G and some HUMAN developed games would later be re-issued under the Spike Library label.

The wrestlers in Fire Pro Wrestling G are based on real life wrestlers, but are given fake names because HUMAN didn't secure any license. In the following section, the wrestlers will be listed with Fire Pro Wrestling name to the left and their real life name to the right:

TIPS AND TRICKS
To change the outfit color of the referee, hold any direction on the Directional buttons during the match-up screen. The four referees only have one alternate outfit color regardless of the direction you choose to hold.

When the game is paused, you can remove the "PAUSE" text displayed below by holding L1 and R1 and pressing the Select button. Pressing Select again will remove the match time display at the bottom right of the screen.

As you play in the Fighting Road, Yuji Yamashita will meet wrestlers and other characters with their own portraits. These are added to the options menu with a total of 104 to collect. Winning or losing matches, as well as decisions made will lead to many different scenarios as well. If you can win many of your Fighting Road matches, you can increase your Edit points from 160 to the maximum 280 points.

As your wrestler completes matches in Edit Ranking, you unlock items for Edit mode, including parts to create bears, tanookis, kappas and even Joshi (female) wrestlers including those with the likeness of Kyoko Inoue and Manami Toyota. You also unlock new moves for edited wrestlers including the Muscle Buster and even the Phoenix Kick desperation move used by Kim Kaphwan of Fatal Fury fame.
